La Distancia | The Distance Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Celebration

Join us to celebrate the unveiling of Edra Soto’s striking new public artwork, La Distancia / The Distance — a sculptural outdoor bus shelter that also serves as a functioning RTA transit stop. This impactful work stands as a tribute to the Clark-Fulton neighborhood, home to Cleveland’s largest Puerto Rican and Latinx communities.

This event marks Edra Soto’s first major Midwest commission outside of her home base in Chicago.

Program highlights include:

• Ribbon cutting ceremony
• Remarks from Councilwoman Jasmin Santana, Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority CEO India L. Birdsong Terry, Greg Zucca from The MetroHealth System and Edra Soto
• A musical and dance performance by Djapo Cultural Arts immediately following the remarks
• Free ice cream and non-alcoholic drinks

Please note: This is an outdoor celebration. In the event of inclement weather, we’ll move indoors to the Glick Center entrance performance space.

Únase a nosotros para celebrar la presentación de la nueva e impresionante obra pública de Edra Soto, La Distancia / The Distance — una escultura en forma de refugio para autobuses que también funciona como una parada de tránsito de la RTA. Esta obra impactante rinde homenaje al vecindario de Clark-Fulton, hogar de la comunidad puertorriqueña más grande de Cleveland y otras comunidades Latinas.

Esta obra de arte pública marca el primer proyecto de gran escala de Edra Soto en el Medio Oeste y fuera de Chicago.

Momentos destacados del programa incluyen:

• Ceremonia de corte de cinta
• Palabras de bienvenida por Edra Soto, Councilwoman Jasmin Santana, and representatives from MetroHealth Community Hospital and the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority CEO India Birdso
