The evening will begin with a guided walkthrough of the exhibition led by Executive Director Grace Chin, followed by an introduction of each artist’s practice inside the gallery. Selina Pagán, Executive Director of the Young Latino Network (YLN) and Avanzamos Unidos, will lead a panel-style conversation exploring how art becomes a tool for remembering, resisting, and reimagining. Your presence supports the voices of local artists, and audience members are encouraged to join the conversation during a Q&A session following the artist panel.

About the Artists

Nathalie Bermudez is a Colombian visual artist and actor. She began painting after coming to the United States as a way to navigate questions of personal identity related to migration and connect with her cultural roots. Through her paintings, she tells the story of where she came from and where she once belonged. Bermudez holds Associate of Arts degrees from the Actors Studio Academy and from Cuyahoga Community College and a Visual Art and Theater degree from Cleveland State University.

Orlando Caraballo is an interdisciplinary artist and arts administrator based in Cleveland, Ohio. Following the ancestral tradition of storytelling to preserve and pass forward consejos, or wisdoms, Caraballo’s work investigates the relationship between personal and cultural identity and the pursuit of one’s vocation in a world filled with grief, complexity, and opportunities for love & connection. Orlando serves as the Director of Artist Experiences at the Cleveland Print Room, providing resources for artists to cultivate community and holistic creative practices.

Laura Camila Medina is an interdisciplinary artist from Bogotá, Colombia. Her practice is deeply inspired by the kisses between mountains and sky of her birthplace intertwined with the thematic fantasy-scape and migrant microcosms of Central Florida. Medina earned her BFA at the Pacific Northwest College of Art and an MFA in Painting & Printmaking from Yale University. She is currently based in Cleveland, Ohio, where she is the AICAD Post-Graduate Fellow at the Cleveland Institute of Art. She is represented by Nationale in Portland, OR.
