Conversation – An Open Roundtable on Creativity and the World Oct. 24th

October 21, 2016The Sculpture Center

Roundtable Conversation on Creativity Featuring Mary Grimm and Tony Ingrisano

Date: October 24

Time: 6:00 – 8:00 PM

Location: The Sculpture Center, East 123rd St. Cleveland, Ohio. 44106

From Neil Gaiman’s Anansi Boys: “People take on the shapes of the songs and the stories that surround them, especially if they don’t have their own song.”

Framed by the current exhibition, “Boppin into the Wild Blue,” The Sculpture Center is hosting an open and informal roundtable conversation exploring the creative processes of re-imagining the  world and the role that creative works play in forming our world views.

Two creative professionals: Author and Case Western Reserve University Professor, Mary Grimm; visual artist and Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA) Professor, Tony Ingrisano, agreed to lead the  conversation by responding to some of the following prompts:

  • Are all creative works narrative?
  • Do creative works have the potential to change the world?
  • Do creative works outside of popular culture have a trickle down effect? In other words can creative works that are enjoyed by a narrow audience have the potential to influence a larger culture.
  • How do creatives (artists, writers, etc.) represent, process and transform information into creative works?
  • How and what do these creative works communicate to their audience?

Food, drinks, and delicious conversation will be served and attendees can also view the exhibition “Boppin’ Into the Wild Blue.” – Expect the casual atmosphere of friendly party.
