The Curator and The Artists Talk @ 6:30 PM
Featuring new sculpture and installations by Cleveland-artists Marc Petrovic, Zak Smoker, and Erin Duhigg, and Stacey Holloway of Birmingham, AL, Boppin’ into the Wild Blue offers compelling in-the-round slippages and revisions of reality in the Digital Age and at a time of such grim news and uncertainty worldwide.
Some artists privilege the transformative components of art-making, the space in art that allows for the limits of the known world to be stretched and challenged. It is an approach that allows us to see just beyond the edges of the real world, beyond the mundane, allowing the limits of everyday life to be exponentially expanded, revealing a world of possible magic. Artists thus provide a lens through which to view the world. The chief qualification of an artist is the ability to see things differently, to imagine possibilities, to reimagine the world, to engage in, as a day to day occupation, “blue sky thinking.” – Guest curator Lane Cooper
