The Sculpture Center offers free art classes for beginners of all ages at the Free Clinic, our across Euclid Avenue neighbor. All art supplies are provided. The classes are now being taught by artist and jewelry maker Catherine Butler. Catherine has a piece titled Mikromega: Die regenden Würmer (Mikromega: The Wriggling Worms) on display at Die Neue Sammlung, Staatliches Museum für Angewante Kunst Design in Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich, Germany, on permanent loan from the Danner Foundation. She says this piece was her response when asked to create “a miniature mystery of the Universe” on the head of a pin. Wriggling worms, who aid in decomposition, form the petals of a flower. A vibrant garden and birds sprout out of the flower’s center, celebrating the cycle of life.
Bring the whole family and friends to The Free Medical Clinic of Greater Cleveland, 12201 Euclid Avenue, and then come over to the always free Sculpture Center to visit our galleries and see our latest exhibitions. No registration needed.
This pilot project has been generously funded by the Ohio Arts Council and the Char and Chuck Fowler Family Foundation.
